Palisades Tahoe River Retreat

8 guests3 bedrooms5 bed2 bath

Escape to Unit 17, a charming 3-bedroom condo nestled in Olympic Valley, perfect for your Lake Tahoe adventure. Enjoy easy access to Palisades Tahoe’s slopes for winter fun or explore the stunning summer landscapes like the Truckee River, golf courses, pickle ball, tennis courts and thousands of acres of trails for hiking and mtn biking. With a fully equipped kitchen and modern amenities, this condo retreat offers a comfortable and convenient base for your unforgettable Lake Tahoe getaway.

The space

The interior of Unit 17 at 227 Olympic Valley Rd offers a fresh, inviting space with new floors and paint, perfect for an affordable stay in a prime location. As an economy rental, it provides excellent value for those seeking a Lake Tahoe vacation house rental near Palisades Tahoe. It also has its own cedar wet sauna on the first floor and a gas fireplace in the living room on the 2nd floor. During winter months, heavy snow totals can make parking in your designated spot challenging, so we recommend using the common area parking spots, which are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please note that the HOA’s snow plow service only clears the main driveway and not individual parking spots, so be prepared to shovel upon arrival and throughout your stay if snow falls. Built in the 1970s, the complex has tight parking, and snow removal can be difficult during heavy snowfalls. To live like a local during winter, be ready to shovel snow from the parking area and to the condo unit. We provide snowmelt, shovels, and ice picks in the ski closet located to the right of the front door to help you handle winter conditions. Remember, you’re on “Tahoe Time”—everything slows down when it snows!

Granite Peak Management oversees the HOA, facilities, and amenities, including the pool, hot tub, sauna, tennis, and pickle ball courts. It’s best to contact their main office at the base of Palisades Tahoe for up-to-date information. The pool, tennis, and pickleball courts are closed during fall, winter, and spring. We provide a magnetic badge for access to the facilities. This Lake Tahoe vacation property is a great way to enjoy the area while embracing the local lifestyle during the winter months.

Perfect stay

We were in Olympic Valley for an event, and this place was a perfect stay. This place is much better than what the pictures show, spacious rooms and close by to anything an adventure may call for.

Eduardo
Spacious, clean, and well located

The condo was spacious, clean, and well located. It was very comfortable, well laid out, and had everything we needed. Jean was very communicative and accommodating. Would absolutely stay again.

Best ever

The location is great!!!!!! Best ever!!!! The house is great and very convenient and comfortable! It’s a good experience!

Maggie

Our group had a generally pleasant stay at Tahoe for NYE. The location is fantastic and the added amenities of the jacuzzi and in-unit sauna make it a truly well-rounded ski trip experience. The real star of the show, however, was Ken. Upon our initial check-in, there appeared to be an electrical issue with the oven and dishwasher. He worked with us extensively to resolve the issue and ensure that our stay was not overwhelmingly impacted by the absence of these amenities. He continuously demonstrated that his top priority were the interests of his guests, even when mediating between us and the property owner. He informed us that these appliances are to be replaced, so these should no longer be issues in the future. We would absolutely stay here again and will certainly look to rent other units from Ken and his team!

Alexander Z.

We appreciate Ken for always being available to answer our questions. He was consistently kind in all of our communications! The proximity to the ski slope was fantastic – a short 5 min drive. We enjoyed evening walks through the nearby communities, and the views were incredible!

Location and proximity to Palisades and Alpine for first time snowboarding for teens was reason for booking. Beds and linens were comfortable and the fireplace was welcoming. Condo was as described, except that I did not anticipate having to climb so many stairs. Appreciate Ken’s guide and the green porch light made the unit easy to find. A map of the complex would have been helpful. Unfortunately the dedicated parking space was not ideal for parking the large vehicle we had as snow was piled at the front (and space had a lot of ice) and the access street was narrow and we would stick out; fortunately we were able to park in the larger visitor spots down the hill a bit. While the guide did mention we might need to shovel the parking, it was more work than I was willing to put in on a vacation trip.

Deanna C.

We had a great stay. Ken was very responsive. The kitchen is very well equipped. The shuttle to Palisades makes this super convenient. Only downside was having to shovel our parking spot (there were others available but we had a second car arriving late and wanted to be sure they’d have a spot).

Talia N.

Can’t beat the location! The access to both Palisades Tahoe and Alpine was great! We especially loved the sauna and fire place. Ken was very responsive when we had questions.

Amy B.

Place was great for our stay! Easy access to and from the mountain and held us all comfortably.

Matthew P.

Great spot for a ski trip. Family was comfortable and enjoyed their time.

Jake R.

Ken was a fantastic and extremely communicative host who made our stay lovely. The location was impossible to beat for skiing at Palisades and the house was perfect for a small group. I’d suggest using the Mountaineer app instead of the unreliable TART but everything about the rental unit was amazing!

Aaron K.

Amazing place close to the base for skiing and Ken was extremely helpful!

Christopher K.

Spacious condo in a perfect location for access to Palisades Tahoe, as well as Alpine Meadows resort. We had plenty of room for 6 adults with private bedrooms for 3 couples. The gas fireplace in the living room was well-used and much appreciated on a rainy winter weekend, with lots of soggy ski gear to dry! Ken was responsive when an issue came up, and he was great about addressing it. The condo complex is older, but still quite functional and better located than most other options in this price range.

Jennifer M.

Jennifer didn’t flip the breaker to resolve a tripped breaker in the bedroom we called her Gabe her instructions said she did everything became irritated that we had done something wrong. I asked her again outside of our detailed guide to flip all breakers to triple check said she had. Sent an electrician out on a Saturday morning flipped the breaker and resolved the issue cost us 525$ which could have been avoided if she had just followed my instructions and when I kindly asked her over the phone to make sure she flipped all breakers in both closets downstairs.

Jennifer M.

Great stay only minor complaint was the WiFi was a bit slow.

Be mindful of the shuttle to palisades not running because that happened to us but obviously out of control of the host!

Other than that great experience!

Giuseppe A.

Nice place to stay in the village. Would stay again.

Where you’ll be

Olympic Valley, California, United States

The Tavern Inn Condominiums complex is nestled in the heart of Olympic Valley, offering a prime location for both winter and summer adventures. Surrounded by the stunning Sierra Nevada mountains, this neighborhood provides easy access to the world-class skiing and snowboarding at Palisades Tahoe (formerly Squaw Valley), which is just minutes away. During the winter months, residents and guests enjoy the convenience of nearby snowshoeing and cross-country skiing trails, along with easy access to the area’s renowned après-ski spots. For those who prefer a more relaxed pace, the Tavern Inn complex is also close to the Tahoe City Winter Sports Park, offering ice skating and sledding.

In the summer, the neighborhood comes alive with outdoor activities like hiking, mountain biking, and rafting along the Truckee River, which flows just a short distance from the complex. Tavern Inn also provides access to tennis courts and a seasonal pool, perfect for cooling off on warm summer days. Access

For parking at Unit 17, 227 Olympic Valley Rd, it’s important to understand the distinction between community spots and assigned parking. Community spots are unmarked spaces, and these are available for all guests on a first-come, first-served basis. Any parking spot marked with a condo unit number is assigned exclusively to that specific unit and cannot be used by other guests.

The community parking spots are located about 150 feet to the left of Unit 17, with a short walk leading to the exterior stairs of the condo. Please be aware that during the winter months, heavy snowfall can make parking more challenging. We strongly recommend using these community spots, as parking in the assigned spaces of other units is prohibited and has caused issues for guests in the past.

Snow removal in the complex is managed by Granite Peak Property Management, which plows only the main driveway. Individual parking spots are not cleared, so be prepared to shovel your way to your parking spot and to the condo during snowfall. We provide snowmelt, shovels, and ice picks in the ski closet to the right of the front door to assist with this.

By understanding the parking situation and preparing for winter conditions, your stay at this Lake Tahoe vacation rental will be much more enjoyable.

Transit

In the Tavern Inn Condominiums area, the best way to get around—especially in the winter months—is by utilizing the convenient public transit options, rather than driving. With limited parking in the complex and challenging winter road conditions, using public transportation is the most efficient and safest way to explore the region. Both TART (Tahoe Area Regional Transit) and Palisades Tahoe’s free shuttle services provide easy access to key locations, including Palisades Tahoe and Alpine Meadows ski areas.

TART Public Transit
TART operates year-round and offers regular service throughout North Lake Tahoe, including stops near the Tavern Inn Condominiums. In winter, the TART bus is a great way to avoid parking challenges and get around safely. The nearest TART pick-up and drop-off locations are conveniently located close to the complex. You can find up-to-date schedules and routes by visiting tahoetruckeetransit.com or calling (530) 550-1212.

Palisades Tahoe Free Shuttles
For direct access to Palisades Tahoe and Alpine Meadows ski resorts, take advantage of the Palisades Tahoe free shuttle service, which operates between the two mountains. This shuttle is an ideal option for skiers and snowboarders, ensuring you don’t have to worry about parking, especially during peak times. Shuttle pick-up and drop-off locations are conveniently located at both base areas. For shuttle schedules and more information, visit palisadestahoe.com or call (800) 403-0206.

Why Driving in Winter Isn’t Ideal
Driving in the winter, especially with the heavy snowfall typical of the Lake Tahoe region, can be difficult and hazardous. Roads are often icy and parking is extremely limited at the Tavern Inn Condominiums complex, making it a challenge to find a spot, especially during high-traffic seasons. Using public transit reduces stress, keeps you safe, and helps you enjoy your time in the mountains without the hassle of parking or navigating snowy roads.

For your convenience, we highly recommend relying on these public transit services to make the most of your stay, whether you’re heading out for a day on the slopes or exploring the North Lake Tahoe area.

Interaction with guests

We are dedicated to ensuring you have a comfortable and enjoyable stay at Tavern Inn Condominiums. Throughout your visit, we are available between 5am-9pm to assist with any needs or questions. You can reach us via phone or text for immediate assistance, or email for less urgent matters. We strive to respond promptly to all inquiries. For detailed information about the property, including check-in instructions, Wi-Fi access, and local recommendations, please refer to our TouchStay guide.

Notes

Important Notes: Please be aware that this property is located in the mountains, and winter conditions can be challenging. We provide a detailed TouchStay guide with check-in instructions, Wi-Fi details, and local recommendations; please review it before your arrival. Contact Granite Peak Management for facility updates, including snow removal and amenity availability. The swimming pool is closed for the majority of the year open only in the summer months, but the sauna and hot tub may be open—availability varies. The condo features its own 8-person cedar sauna. During winter, be prepared for snow, as you will need to shovel your parking spot and walkway. We provide snowmelt, shovels, and ice picks in the ski closet. This experience offers a genuine mountain lifestyle; please be prepared for winter weather.
