One of the nicest places we’ve ever stayed

Very clean, great décor, high quality appliances, and lots of plates/utensils. The place is very clean and probably one of the nicest places we’ve ever stayed at near Tahoe. The host is very responsive and helpful with accommodations.

Checkout instructions are a bit more extensive than other airbnbs, but given how nice the place was and how helpful the host was, I think it was reasonable. It’s a nice place and they just want to keep it nice.

Would come again.

Great location

Great location. Super close to both downtown Truckee and the local ski resorts. Right close to the Lake too. Accommodations were clean and in good order. The interiors had a charming rustic feel. Perfect vacation rental for a family or two with the multiple bedrooms and pretty affordable.

Cozy house in a great location

This is a cozy house in a great location if you are looking for quick access to Tahoe Donner, Truckee, and Serene Lakes, and was perfect for our family of four. It has good sized bedrooms and comfortable beds. Kitchen is well stocked. Showers have good water pressure.

This place was perfect for three families with 4 small children! The kids room was perfect for the kiddos and each family fit comfortably in each room. The kitchen was a full kitchen, down to a wok and chopsticks! The table was large enough to fit the adults and the kids sat at the coffee table to eat. WiFi was good, had 7 mobiles, 3 laptops and 4 tablets all on at the same time!! Each room has its own wall furnace which was made each room super cozy. The garage was perfect dry place for getting out of our snow gear.

Ken was super responsive to our request to change three lightbulbs that were burnt out in the kitchen. He even took the trash out for us which was so unexpected but so accommodating 😄😄!! He even threw some snow melter down on the driveway!

Since we had small kids we played in front of the house and down the trail which was about two houses down. The neighbors were super pleasant and stopped to talk to us.

All in all this was a great experience for all of us!!

We had the best stay at Ken’s place. The cabin was super cozy. The location was perfect – peaceful and secluded while still being close to everything we needed. Ken was an excellent host who responded to all our inquiries incredibly fast and was super helpful throughout our stay. Would definitely stay here again!

Miriam C.

The house was cozy and well equipped. Ken was extremely responsive and it was wonderful to arrive in a snowstorm to find the lights on and the house well heated. The neighborhood is very convenient to Truckee and ski resorts, and of course, Donner Lake. We loved our stay and will certainly come back.

Lisa S.

We had a great time and enjoyed our stay!

Giset D.

Perfect place for a weekend ski trip. The cabin was clean and nicely furnished. Beautiful location near Donner Lake. An easy drive from the Bay Area.

Dennis G.

Great stay.

Robbins S.

I would not recommend Robbin’s based on our experience with his stay.

Robbins S.

I resented Yedi management pushing me to give only a 5 star review or none at all, which adversely affects other hosts and prospective guests. But Ken the local manager was top notch so I am providing a review to support him.

Audrey T.

We had a great stay at the cabin.

Roman S.

Our stay was amazing for our annual family snowboarding trip! The house was sparkling clean upon arrival. We were able to park both of our cars in the driveway and enter/exit through the garage easily. (The driveway gets plowed every morning.) The deck at the front of the house was perfect for building snowmen.

The living/dining room upstairs was perfect for our group to relax and share a meal after a day of snowboarding. The dining table comfortable fit 7 adults. We were able to keep an eye our elderly wobbly dog in the area during the day and evenings.

The kitchen was fully stocked with new applicances and kitchen tools one may need during their stay. Dishwasher tablets and soap were provided. The dishwasher was quiet and large. We made sure to bring our own ziploc bags, foil, plastic wrap, oil, and cooking seasonings.

The mattresses were comfortable and each room had its own adjustable heater. The bathrooms toiletries were fully stocked. we would definitely return in the future!

Kelcey T.

My family & I had a great time staying here! Ken was kind and helpful with any questions that we had. We definitely recommend & plan to come back during summer!

Kelsey A.

The setting was peaceful and scenic—perfect for relaxing or exploring the outdoors. The hosts were incredibly kind and responsive, making check-in and communication super easy. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, charming cabin in a great location

Cassandra L.

Qaiss R.

Very nice, peaceful and quite location. I would stay here again and again

Gabriel L.

Ken answered all my questions quickly! He checked on my progress several times and offered help with finding the amenities I was looking for. Over all a great host!

Patrick C.

Location, location, location! The house was located in a lovely neighborhood (dog and kid friendly) and walking distance to Donner. The house was clean, the beds were comfy and the house was stocked with the basics as well as some fun stuff (an SUP, a grill, a little wagon, beach chairs). The host was very responsive, though the house was pretty self sufficient so we didn’t reach out too much. Would definitely recommend!

Marlena S.

We had a great time, location was perfect for us, Airbnb was cozy. We didn’t drive but we found tart connect to be a really great way to travel to and from the Airbnb, all amenities were provided and instructions were clear and easy to get to.

Suriani A.

Great location in Donner! Walkable to the lake with a wagon. Also great hiking/biking/running trail very close. House was comfortable and had all the amenities we needed.

Ashley E.

Really enjoyed my stay here. The place was exceptionally clean and very quiet, which made it perfect for relaxing and getting a good night’s sleep. Everything was just as described and felt very comfortable throughout my stay.

Angel C.

Ken was great to work with and had excellent communication. The cabin is well located, clean, well kept, and has comfortable beds. The front deck is a great feature.

Melissa R.

A beautiful place with lots to do. Our family will be back!

Erin T.

We had a wonderful stay! Our host, Ken, was very responsive before and throughout our stay. The guidebook provided at time of booking really helped our group of 10 with planning, and clearly stated everything you needed to know about the house, instructions, photos, and rules, and even had a video tutorial for trash.

The house is a cozy cabin that is exactly as shown and described. The owners put a lot of thought into each detail, and it felt like our own home! We especially enjoyed the large patio, perfect for warm days and soaking in the beautiful surroundings. The open concept kitchen/dining/living allowed us to move around and still enjoy conversation. The kitchen also had everything we needed, and the beds were comfortable! I’d love to come back in the winter, I think the bathrooms have heated floors.

We had a mishap with the trash bin (our fault), and Ken couldn’t be nicer about it, and made the replacement process easy.

I highly recommend this space, especially for families!

Jennifer M.

We had a great stay, Ken was incredibly helpful and welcoming. The area was beautiful and peaceful.

Britney G.

We had a great stay at the cabin. The neighborhood is awesome- super walkable, and right near a couple restaurants and west end beach. The cabin easily fit 9 of us, and although there is no street parking, the driveway is quite large and fit 4 large vehicles easily. We really enjoyed sitting on the deck and exploring the neighborhood. Ken was very quick to respond to any questions I had. Thanks again!
Our only complaint was that the floors/carpets could have been cleaner.

Kelly D.

This place is a gem, location was great and Ken was super responsive.

Jan Y.

ken was quick to reply and respond to inquiry’s

Kyoumarss D.

This was such a cozy airbnb. My group visited to snowboard, but there was no snow. We ended up spending our entire weekend in the cabin and loved every moment of it. I love that there were heaters in the bathrooms! My friends and I spent majority of our time in the kitchen together to prep and cook our food. The deck is also pretty big, but it was too cold for us to go outside. I love that the amenities were placed somewhere convenient. Our host was very responsive, and his instructions were easy to follow. Remember to read his check-in instructions before driving there!

The home provides convenient entry with a large, flat driveway that accommodates up to four vehicles. Snow plow service is included during the winter months, though guests may need to move vehicles and perform light shoveling as needed during storms.

Inside, guests have access to fast Wi-Fi, a full washer and dryer, and televisions in every bedroom and living space. Firewood is provided in the garage for use in the wood-burning fireplace. The kitchen is fully stocked for cooking larger meals and features ample counter space, dining seating, and a versatile Cuisinart coffee system offering drip, K-cup, and cold brew options.

Transit

Getting around the West End of Donner Lake like a true local requires a good understanding of the terrain and weather, especially in the winter months. Here are some key points to help you navigate the area efficiently and safely:

Public Transit:
The TART (Tahoe Area Regional Transit) bus stop is conveniently located just 3/4 of a mile from the cabin, providing easy access to downtown Truckee and other nearby areas, including North Lake Tahoe. This is a great option if you prefer not to drive, especially during snowy conditions. You can hop on the TART bus and reach Donner Pass Road, Old Highway 40, and even connect to Interstate 80.

Driving in Winter:
If you’re driving, a 4×4 vehicle is strongly recommended during the winter months. The roads around Donner Lake can get steep, icy, and covered with heavy snow, making it challenging for 2-wheel drive vehicles. In fact, 2-wheel drive vehicles are not advisable in winter conditions here. Even with a 4×4 vehicle, it’s crucial to have the correct chains with you, as snowstorms can come in quickly, and certain areas may require chains regardless of your vehicle type.

Lower clearance cars can easily get stuck or become high-centered in deep snow, especially after significant accumulations. Locals know the importance of having a vehicle that’s equipped to handle these conditions to avoid getting stranded. Always check the weather ahead of time, and prepare accordingly.

Access to Major Roads:
The cabin is conveniently located with access to Old Highway 40, Donner Pass Road, and Interstate 80, making it easy to reach ski resorts like Sugar Bowl and nearby towns like Truckee. During snowstorms, Old Highway 40 may close, but Interstate 80 is generally kept clear by Caltrans. Just be sure to plan your route in advance and check weather conditions before heading out.

With the right vehicle and preparation, getting around the West End of Donner Lake is a rewarding experience, offering quick access to outdoor activities and the stunning natural beauty of the Truckee area.

It also provides curated recommendations for dining, shopping, outdoor recreation, lake access, and nearby ski resorts such as Sugar Bowl and Donner Ski Ranch.

We encourage all guests to review the TouchStay guide before arrival and share it with their group to ensure everyone is prepared for a comfortable and well-informed stay.
