Dollar Point Mtn Modern Retreat

10 guests4 bedrooms5 bed3 bath

Carnelian Bay’s north shore puts you steps from Lake Tahoe and minutes from Northstar and Palisades. This 4-bedroom, 3-bath home sleeps your whole crew in comfort — spread across spacious rooms with a gas fireplace to come home to after a day on the slopes or the water. Gather on the deck with Sierra views as your backdrop. Perfect for families, couples, and groups who want the real Tahoe experience without the crowds.

The space

There are Tahoe cabins, and then there are Tahoe cabins that feel like they were put together specifically for you. This fully updated four-bedroom, three-bath home in Carnelian Bay is the latter. Sitting on a quiet corner lot in one of North Lake Tahoe’s most desirable pockets, the home has been thoroughly renovated from the ground up — new flooring throughout, a fully remodeled kitchen, updated bathrooms, new beds, and new furniture in every room. It shows. From the moment you walk in, this feels less like a vacation rental and more like a well-loved home that someone took real pride in getting right.
The main living area is warm and inviting, anchored by a gas fireplace that takes the edge off a cold mountain night without any fuss. The open layout makes it easy for everyone to be together — the kind of space where dinner prep turns into the first part of the evening rather than a chore. The updated kitchen is fully stocked and functional, with clean lines and everything you need to cook a real meal after a day on the mountain. When the weather cooperates, step out onto the deck and let the Sierra air do the rest.
With four bedrooms and three full bathrooms, the home works equally well for a family spreading out or two couples sharing the weekend without getting in each other’s way. There is room to gather and room to disappear, which is the right balance for any group that actually wants to enjoy their trip.
The location is one of the home’s strongest assets. Carnelian Bay sits on the north shore of Lake Tahoe, quieter than Kings Beach and more central than Tahoe City, with Waterman’s Landing just minutes away for paddleboards and kayaks in summer. Northstar California and Palisades Tahoe are both within easy driving distance for winter. The Tahoe Rim Trail and Burton Creek State Park are practically at your doorstep for hikers. In every season, this stretch of the north shore gives you access to the best of the lake without the noise and congestion of the more trafficked corridors.
This is a home that works hard for its guests. Every detail of the renovation was done with comfort in mind, and it shows in how the space lives. Whether you are here for a long ski weekend, a summer lake trip, or simply a few days off the grid in the mountains, 3618 Lynwood Drive gives you a genuinely comfortable, well-appointed base to come back to at the end of the day.

Things To know

Where you’ll be

Carnelian Bay, California, United States

Carnelian Bay sits on the north shore of Lake Tahoe in one of the quieter, more authentic stretches of the entire lake. It is the kind of place that draws people back year after year — not because of any single attraction, but because of how the whole thing feels. Tall pines, calm water, unhurried streets, and a community that has held onto its character while everything around it has grown busier. You are close to everything you came to Tahoe for, without the noise that often comes with it.
The neighborhood takes its name from the semi-precious red and yellow stones that once peppered the shoreline, and that unhurried, timeless quality still describes the place well today. Carnelian West Beach is a short drive away — 530 feet of public shoreline with picnic tables, barbecues, and some of the best sunset views on the north shore. Waterman’s Landing, just down the road on Patton’s Beach, is where most mornings begin for people who know the area. It is a beachfront cafe and paddleboard shop in one, serving coffee, smoothies, and breakfast all day, with board rentals right out the door for anyone who wants to get on the water.
For dinner, Gar Woods Grill and Pier is the local landmark — a lakefront restaurant with a large outdoor deck, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a menu that runs from fresh seafood to prime rib. Order the Wet Woody and watch the sun go down over the water. CB’s Pizza is the low-key counterpart, consistently one of the best pizzas in the Tahoe basin. Magic Carpet Golf and Arcade is nearby for families with kids who need a change of pace from the outdoors.
The outdoor options are genuinely exceptional in every season. Summer means paddleboarding, kayaking, and swimming in some of the clearest water in North America. The hiking trails nearby connect directly to the Tahoe Rim Trail for anyone who wants to get above the lake and see it from a different angle. Burton Creek State Park, one of the largest undeveloped state parks in the Tahoe basin, borders the neighborhood and offers miles of trails through old-growth forest with almost no crowds. Fishing in Carnelian Bay is renowned for big Mackinaw trout, and charter boats operate out of the bay for those who want a guided experience on the water.
In winter, Northstar California Resort is approximately fifteen minutes away, and Palisades Tahoe — the largest ski resort in the region — is within easy reach to the south. The home puts you in the right position for a ski trip without paying the premium of being in the resort villages themselves.
Tahoe City, with its full range of restaurants, grocery stores, and shops, is roughly ten minutes west. Kings Beach, with a wide sandy shoreline and a casual summer scene, is a short drive east. You have the best of the north shore within easy reach, and a neighborhood that genuinely earns the description of a hidden gem.

Access

The home and property are yours to enjoy during your stay. All four bedrooms, three full bathrooms, the living and dining areas, the updated kitchen, the deck, and the yard are fully available to you. Make yourself at home in every sense of the word. The one exception is the garage, which is reserved for owner storage and is not accessible to guests. Parking is available in the driveway.

Transit

Dollar Point sits on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe in a quiet, residential neighborhood that is best explored by car. A vehicle is recommended for your stay, as most dining, grocery shopping, and recreation require short drives. That said, the area rewards those who want to slow down and move at a more relaxed pace.
Carnelian Bay is just minutes away and has a few essential stops including a local market and casual lakeside dining. Tahoe City is roughly five to ten minutes south and is the hub of the North Shore, with the best concentration of restaurants, coffee shops, breweries, outdoor gear shops, and everyday services. Kings Beach is a similar drive to the north and offers a lively public beach scene, more dining options, and a laid-back summer atmosphere.
The major ski resorts are all within comfortable reach. Palisades Tahoe is approximately fifteen minutes west and is one of the largest ski areas in North America. Northstar California is about fifteen to twenty minutes east and is a favorite for families and those looking for a more polished, village-style resort experience.
In summer, Tahoe City serves as the best launching point for river activities on the Truckee River, including kayak and raft rentals. Bike paths along the North Shore connect several lakeside communities and are a great car-free way to explore the area. Rideshare availability in the Tahoe basin is limited, particularly in winter, so having your own vehicle will make your trip considerably easier.
Truckee is approximately twenty to twenty-five minutes away and offers additional dining, shopping, and a charming historic downtown if you want to venture a bit further from the lake.
