ALDER CREEK ADVENTURE CENTER – 0.8 mi / 3 min
One address, three great amenities. The Cross Country Ski Center is one of the largest Nordic operations in North America, with miles of groomed track through old-growth forest. The Equestrian Center shares the site – trail rides in summer, pony rides for the kids. Same trails open to hikers and bikers in warm months.

TAHOE DONNER DOWNHILL + NEW SKI LODGE – 2.5 mi / 7 min
A state-of-the-art lodge that transformed the experience: modern, warm, and blessedly uncrowded next to the resort corridor. The friendliest mountain in Tahoe for families and first-timers.

Ski downhill in the morning, come back for lunch, head out on the Nordic trails in the afternoon. Very few homes in Tahoe put you that close to both.

TROUT CREEK REC CENTER – 3 mi / 8 min
Pools, fitness studios, hot tubs, sauna, steam room.

BEACH CLUB MARINA – 5.5 mi / 13 min
Private beach and marina on Donner Lake. Kayak and paddleboard rentals, lakeside grills.

HISTORIC DOWNTOWN TRUCKEE – 6.5 mi / 14 min
Restaurants, wine bars, galleries, and the Amtrak depot along Commercial Row.

Access

The entire three-level home is yours, plus the full outdoor wellness area – cedar sauna, cold plunge, and salt-water hot tub – and the two-car garage. Self check-in via keypad. Your digital guide arrives before you do.

Worth noting: the sauna, cold plunge, and hot tub are at the house, private to your group, and not subject to any guest cap, daily fee, or blackout date. Everything below applies only to Tahoe Donner’s shared community facilities.

TAHOE DONNER SHORT-TERM TENANT CARDS

Your stay includes six transferable short-term tenant cards, unlocking Tahoe Donner’s private amenities for the duration of your stay.

IMPORTANT IF YOUR GROUP IS LARGER THAN SIX. Tahoe Donner permits a maximum of six cards per property, regardless of how many guests the home sleeps. This home sleeps 10, which means up to six members of your group can access the private amenities on any given day. The cards are transferable, so your group can rotate them day to day – four people ski Monday while six use the pool, then swap on Tuesday. If you need access for more than six at once, contact us before arrival; additional access can sometimes be pre-registered through the owner portal, and fees apply.

WHAT THE CARDS COVER: Trout Creek Recreation Center – pools, hot tubs, sauna, steam room, and fitness studios – plus the Golf Course, tennis and pickleball courts, the Beach Club Marina in summer, the Cross Country Ski and Snowshoe Center, and Tahoe Donner Downhill Ski Resort in winter.

DAILY ACCESS FEES, paid directly at the amenity on arrival:
Ages 7 and older: $30 per day
Ages 3 to 6: $15 per day
Ages 0 to 2: Free

These fees are set by the Tahoe Donner Association and can change at any time without notice. Please confirm current pricing directly with Tahoe Donner before relying on these figures.

Blackout dates are set by the association and may be adjusted. Please verify with Tahoe Donner if your stay falls near one of these windows.

Even on blackout dates, your sauna, cold plunge, and hot tub are unaffected – they are at the house.

PUBLIC AMENITIES have no blackout dates and remain open to short-term tenants year round. Short-term tenants do not receive member or personal-guest discount rates.

Transit

A PERSONAL VEHICLE IS REQUIRED – YEAR ROUND

Tahoe Donner sits at 6,500-7,000 feet and this home is near the top. There are no walkable restaurants or stores, and rideshare coverage is thin – Uber and Lyft effectively disappear inside the subdivision after dark or during a storm. Regional transit does not serve the interior. Amtrak reaches downtown Truckee, but not this door.

OCTOBER 1 – MAY 31: 4WD OR AWD WITH SNOW TIRES REQUIRED

This is not a suggestion. Chains on a 2WD vehicle will not get you up to this home during or after a storm.

Chain controls are routine. Under R2 conditions, the most common level, every vehicle must chain up EXCEPT 4WD/AWD with snow tires on all four wheels.

RENTING A CAR? This is where guests get caught. An SUV is not automatically all-wheel drive, and almost no rental company fits true snow tires – all-season tires do not meet R2. Book AWD or 4WD specifically and confirm the tires at pickup.

Local roads at this elevation are plowed by Nevada County and can be slow to clear after a major storm. Never plan a tight departure window on a storm day.

JUNE – SEPTEMBER: Roads are clear and any vehicle will do. You will still want your own car.

Interaction with guests

We are local co-hosts, not a call center in another state. We have lived and worked in Truckee and North Lake Tahoe for 25 years and we love sharing this place with the people who visit it.

YOUR PRIVACY IS THE DEFAULT. We do not drop by and we will not fill your inbox. The house is yours.

7 PM ARRIVAL CHECK-IN. Three hours after your 4 PM check-in we send one message to make sure you got in and have what you need. It is a courtesy, not a requirement, and the only unprompted message you will get from us.

CONCIERGE HOURS: 6 AM – 9 PM. Non-urgent questions get a reply during these hours. Messages sent after 9 PM are answered first thing the next morning.

URGENT ISSUES: 24/7, ALWAYS. A leak, no heat, a power outage, a lockout, a safety concern – call the emergency number in your welcome message and digital guide at any hour. You will reach a real local person. There is no hour of the night when this home is unreachable.

A TIP OUR GUESTS LOVE: download the free version of ChatGPT or Claude to a few phones in your group. Snap a photo of anything you are unsure about – an appliance panel, a switch bank, gear in the garage – and it will usually walk you through it in seconds.

Please use the digital guide or call us directly for the hot tub, cold plunge, sauna, and gas fireplace rather than an AI app. Those systems are specific to this home and we want you working from the real instructions.

Notes

WINTER AT 7,000 FEET – PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING

Pinnacle Loop sits at the very top of Tahoe Donner, one of the highest and most exposed pockets in Truckee. That elevation is the reason for the views, and it is also why this home receives some of the deepest snow totals in the region. In a big winter, a single storm cycle can drop several feet.

WHAT WE REQUIRE OF EVERY WINTER GUEST:
1. A 4WD or AWD vehicle with true snow tires. See Getting Around.
2. Willingness to shovel. Snow removal during your stay is part of staying here.
3. Patience with the roads after a storm.

DRIVEWAY SERVICE: The driveway is professionally plowed once every 24 hours once accumulation exceeds 4 inches. Between visits, and after the plow passes, berms across the driveway apron and in front of the garage are the guest’s responsibility, as are decks, walkways, and entry stairs. Shovels are provided in the garage.

HONDA SNOW BLOWER – OPTIONAL, PLEASE READ
A gas-powered Honda snow blower is available as a courtesy. Using it is entirely optional; shovels will do the job. If you choose to operate it: operators must be 18 or older; read the manual first; NEVER clear the auger or discharge chute by hand, even with the engine off – use the clearing tool attached to the machine; do not operate after drinking; refuel only when the engine is off and cool. The snow blower is used entirely at the guest’s own risk. If you are unsure, use the shovels or call us.

This is the authentic Tahoe experience and most guests love it. But if clearing heavy snow is not something you are prepared to do, this is not the right home for your trip.

AMENITY ACCESS FOR LARGER GROUPS: This home sleeps 10, but Tahoe Donner caps short-term tenant cards at six per property. Up to six of your group can use the private community amenities on a given day, and the cards are transferable so you can rotate them. Your sauna, cold plunge, and hot tub are at the house and are not subject to any cap, fee, or blackout date. Full detail and blackout dates in Guest Access.

SLEEPING FOR 10: Four king bedrooms accommodate eight guests. Guests nine and ten sleep on the main-level queen sleeper sofa, in the open living and dining area rather than a private bedroom.

PETS: Welcome for a fee. Please add your pet to your reservation so the fee applies automatically.

SECURITY: An exterior Ring camera monitors the perimeter of the home. There are no cameras or recording devices anywhere inside.

THREE LEVELS: Stairs are part of this house. Not ideal for guests with significant mobility limitations.

Maximum occupancy: 10 guests. No exceptions.

No parties, events, weddings, or commercial functions.

QUIET HOURS 10 PM – 7 AM, required by Town of Truckee ordinance. This is a residential street with full-time neighbors.

BEAR COUNTRY. All food and trash stays indoors or in the provided bear locker. Never leave trash outside. Bears in Tahoe Donner are active year round.

PARKING. Garage and driveway only. Vehicles left on the street obstruct plows and may be cited or towed.

SPA USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Sauna, cold plunge, and hot tub use requires signed acknowledgment. No glass in the spa area. Not recommended during pregnancy or with cardiovascular conditions without physician guidance. Children must be supervised at all times.

SNOW BLOWER. Optional, operators 18+, used at guest’s own risk. See Other Things to Note.

NO SMOKING anywhere on the property, indoors or out, including vape. Wildfire risk here is severe.

PETS welcome with prior approval and fee.
